Design-Build contract for the repair and improvement of building 3755 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Kingsville, Texas, and convert it from a Bachelor Enlisted Quarters to Transient Quarters.
The project demolished the interior of the building (approx. 60,000 SF) and constructed new one-bedroom and two-bedroom units with kitchens. New energy efficient doors, windows, and fixtures were installed. The work also included re-design of the HVAC system, upgrade of the electrical system and fire protection system to comply with current codes. Exterior repairs included restoration of exterior finishes and roof replacement. The refurbished facility is ADA compliant, meets ATFP requirements and complies with the Base Exterior Architectural Appearance Plan.
The repairs and alterations to Building 3755 allowed the Transient personnel currently being housed in Building 3730 to be moved to Building 3755. Building 3730 became excess and was demolished under this project (approx. 54,000 SF).
The project also installed a new roof, repaired/replaced exterior stairwells, replaced windows, upgraded laundry rooms, and upgraded the lobby in Building 3740. Exterior repairs to Building 3740 comply with the Base Exterior Architectural Appearance Plan.
A new facility (approx. 8,000 SF) for the storage of furniture and other BQ materials was also constructed.
